Making Better Life Choices: Prioritising Our Offline/Offscreen Life with Good Intentions

Life with the internet and our smart phones is one many of us could have never imagined. It's easy to get caught up on all the things and spend hours consuming home interior tours, dream travel destinations and hydrangea growing tips! While the digital age has brought numerous benefits and opportunities, it has also led to a significant shift in our focus. Many of us find ourselves constantly glued to our screens, and subsequently missing out on our present moments. The online realm can be all consuming. That’s not to say that our lives have not been enhanced by this incredible world, however, it’s important to find balance.

We want to encourage you to use your online world, peer into those screens and capture on that device to enhance your offline life and screen down time. Your life fully encompasses the real world and it's important we don’t forget that. Memories are waiting to be made and simple moments are there to be treasured.

Here are 4 ways for Making Better offline Life Choices:

  1. Reflect on your priorities: Take some time to identify what truly matters to you in your offline life. Is it spending quality time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or engaging in self-care activities? Once you have a clear understanding of your priorities, it becomes easier to make choices that align with them.

  2. Set boundaries with technology: While technology has its benefits (e.i. this blog!), it's essential to establish boundaries to prevent it from taking over our lives. Consider implementing tech-free zones or specific time limits for screen usage. This will allow you to focus on offline activities and connect with the people and experiences that matter most.

  3. Practice mindfulness: Cultivating mindfulness can help us become more aware of our choices and their impact on our offline life. By intentionally engaging in the present moment, we can make conscious decisions that align with our values and priorities. Mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing, and journaling are just some of the ways to develop this awareness.

  4. Prioritise self-care: Taking care of ourselves is crucial for overall well-being and, ultimately, our ability to prioritise our offline life. Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine. This may involve engaging in activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul, such as exercise, getting enough sleep, practicing gratitude, or pursuing hobbies.
